Chris (Jeb, Cyrus John, Sebastian, Gabriel) wants fans to know he is participating in another staged reading of SHADES.
Recent SG Updates and the new Double SG #119-#120 print newsletter detailed the Nov. and Dec. presentations of this award-winning play about the impact of war and its effects on its participants and those who greet them when they come home.

**** DS AUDIODRAMA STARRING JONATHAN FRID WINS AWARD
Big Finish Productions’ 2010 DS audiodrama “The Night Whispers” won a “Best Soundtrack or Horror CD” Rondo Award.
SG Online Update # 235 described the audiodrama CD that debuted at the 2010 DS Fest in Burbank, CA, in July. It is the first time in 40+ years that Jonathan Frid has portrayed his iconic “Barnabas Collins” character. John Karlen reprised his “Willie Loomis” character and Barbara Steele (1991 DS Julia, Natalie) co-starred

In announcing the win, the website said: “Dark Shadows: The Night Whispers, an audio recreation of classic episodes featuring Jonathan Frid was named Best Horror CD.” The site noted: “This year's e-mail vote, conducted by the Classic Horror Film Board, a 16-year old online community, drew more than 2,900 votes as fans chose among 30 categories.” Citing Category 22: “BEST CD – DARK SHADOWS: The Night Whispers (Big Finish Productions); Jonathan Frid returns.” The CD cover is pictured.

**** FULL-CAST DS AUDIODRAMA “KINGDOM OF THE DEAD” ON 4 DISCS
A new press release from Big Finish Productions (BFP) describes “an epic new miniseries” on CD in “radio drama format.” It brings together actors from all DS incarnations: 8 from the original daytime series; Lysette Anthony of the 1991 primetime series; and Alec Newman from the unsold 2004 pilot for the WB Network. A total of 17 people re-create and create established and new characters as Collinsport is threatened by “a.mysterious supernatural character with a deadly agenda.”

Key highlights were cited in SG Online Update #234 (Feb. 28, 2011).
The issue features specific confirmed information about the new DS movie starring Johnny Depp as “Barnabas” and directed by Tim Burton, both lifelong DS fans. The top-secret script by John August and Seth Grahame-Smith “expects to introduce new elements not seen in previous tellings of DS,” while “infusing the the unique style and personality” of Depp and Burton.”

The hotel has sleeping rooms available at a special discount Fest rate . Fans are urged to make their reservations as soon as possible, as the number of these rooms are limited. You must call the hotel directly and mention the “Dark Shadows Festival” to receive the discount rate: Call 1-800-266-9432.
The closest major international airports to the hotel are JFK and La Guardia and the Newark, NJ Airport. All 3 are easily accessible by taxicab, car service, rental car, and local train and bus.
Fans now are encouraged to send a SASE (Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope) to the Fest address below in order to receive the general-information mass mailing that is sent to everyone on the Fest postal-mail list.
However, please note; fans are asked to NOT send in any Fest payments now, as they will be held, unopened, until the Fest sends out its official mass postal-mailing. Once you receive the mailing, you then should send your actual payments.
