--- SG #119-#120 Featured DS News:

Updating the new DS motion picture starring Johnny Depp and directed by Tim Burton:

SG reported screenwriter John August wrote a draft script. Last July, Seth Grahame-Smith was brought in to "revise" the script. Seth's "been working to finish it and is making final polishes. The film promises to be faithful to the DS legacy as well as infusing the unique style and personality of Johnny Depp and his longtime collaborator Tim Burton. The storyline expects to introduce new elements not seen in previous tellings of DS.

"It is expected the entire movie will be shot at Pinewood Studios in England and on location. The creative production staff that has been hired worked with Depp and Burton on previous genre pictures such as SLEEPY HOLLOW and SWEENEY TODD. Danny Elfman, Burton's music composer of choice, will score the film with new material, though Robert Cobert's original theme will likely be integrated into the production also."

As of SG's press date, "production was expected to begin in May and run several months. Post-production will go into next year, with theatrical release expected in 2012."

Full descriptive list of specific DS episode scenes described by Jonathan during his "The Game" presentation at the 2010 DS Festival

Kathleen Cody shares with SG her own message to the fans, thanking them for welcoming her so warmly to her first DS event appearance at the 2010 Fest, and anticipating this year's convention.

Detailed coverage of current and upcoming activities, roles, and projects for many of the 1966-71 personnel and the 1991 personnel. (Example: JERRY LACY plans to record some of his favorite horror stories and poetry for release this summer. He also comments about recording the DS audiodramas)

Honoring people who've sadly left us recently with photos and biographical information: ADDISON POWELL (Dr. Lang); GEORGE DiCENZO (Associate Producer, Deputy in "House of DS");  and VINCENT O'BRIEN (Sheriff Patterson - 2nd Casting).

Two DS stars had key roles in two major films that each won several Academy Awards (Oscars) at the 2-27 ceremony: JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT (1991 DS David, Daniel) stars as "Arthur" in "Inception" and DAVID SELBY (Quentin) is the Attorney "Gage" in "The Social Network.)"

Additionally, David's latest 2 books - "My Shadowed Past" and "The Blue Door" - are examined with his comments, media coverage, and more.

JOSEPH's current and upcoming movie roles, and his own remarks about his career, life, and involvement in HitRECord.com, his wonderfully creative and inspiring collaborative website.

BEN CROSS (1991 Barnabas) has an acclaimed singing career in Bulgaria, where he's lived for a number of years. He recently performed at a jazz club to great audience and critical response.

A delightful personal history and update about TV's "Collinwood" - Seaview Terrace in Newport, Rhode Island - written exclusively for SG #119-#120 by Denise Carey, daughter of the owners. She was raised in the house and has returned there with her fiance Chris Bettencourt. She reports about their ongoing efforts to restore and maintain this historic building.

DS In The Media section features many on-air, print, and online mentions of DS, its personnel, and more, including 2 "unusual references."

DS Merchandise & Publications section updates and reports on new items expected this year, such as:
